Halcon Vineyards is a boutique winery run by a husband and wife pair out of Mendocino California. They focus on Rhone varietals, organic farming principles and low-intervention wine making techniques.
Big news, they are divesting their vineyards and possibly retiring to the UK soon. These wines won't be available once sold out!
Their Syrah recently got a great review and shout out in the SF Chronicle, but I love all of their wines that I've tried! I'm particularly addicted to this Rhone blend!
Be brave with me! This Roussanne/Marsanne blend went a little crazy in the bottle and started to re-ferment! It's got some effervescence and a tiny bit of haziness to it along with the flavors and textures reminiscent of most Rhone whites. By that I mean it has intense aromatics, refreshing acidity, minerality and wonderful creamy texture.
While very ripe pineapple is the dominant flavor for me, I love the complexity that all the other flavors offer: vanilla, coconut, jasmine, lemon, green apple, pear... Delish!
