Can I gift a subscription?
Of course! I have a 1-year subscription available for gifting. Gift giver will be charged one time, recipient will receive all the member benefits for a year and wine will be delivered on the same schedule as recurring memberships.
What if no one is at my shipping address when the wine is delivered?
You will need to provide a shipping address that you can be confident an adult will be present to receive and sign for the wine. Consider using your work address or even contacting your local FedEx or UPS location to see if they will accept deliveries on your behalf. A neighbor is a good option as well. I will contact you prior to shipping to ensure you have planned accordingly as I won't be responsible for the cost of resending the wine if it is returned. Make sure you know an adult can receive the package at your designated shipping address!
What kinds of wines will you be including in each shipment?
I only share with my club members wines that I think are really special and that I enjoy drinking at home! Shipments over the course of a year will be approximately 70% red wines, and the remaining 30% distributed among white, rose and bubbles. I’ll be looking for interesting varietals and styles to introduce you to. Get ready for a PetNat (the OG sparkling wine)! Most of the wines will be sourced from California producers but I’ll also be looking for some great small producers from other countries to introduce you to! I am also very focused on ensuring our wine club wines are supporting environmental programs. I look for wines made from organic, sustainable or biodynamic vineyards and from producers using low-intervention wine making techniques. Can I swap bottles out or add others into my shipment?
Before each shipment, I’ll post the wines that will be included so you know what you’ll be receiving. You will be able to skip a shipment by contacting me before the charge date (see below for dates). Unfortunately at this time I cannot offer swaps or add-ons but I hope to work those in soon!
When will I be billed and when are the wines shipped?
- Confirmation email sent: Mid-Late Feb, May, Aug, Nov
- Billing dates: immediately upon sign up then subsequent Feb 21, May 21, Aug 21, Nov 21 (pending weather - I may ship and charge earlier or later based on weather so wines don't get damaged en route)
- Wines shipped approximately Mar 1, Jun 1, Sep 1, Dec 1
- Shipping type: Ground Shipping, members will be notified prior (ensure an adult will be home to sign for your wine!)
What if don't like one of the wines after I open it?
How disappointing is that!? When you’re all excited and anticipating a new wonderful wine, and then you hate it. That’s the worst. Consider it a learning opportunity on that varietal. I won't be able to accommodate returns or refunds if you simply don't like the wine. However I would like to know your preferences so please fill out the survey after your shipment to let me know what you think! If your bottle is actually damaged however (broken, expelled cork, etc) please contact me to discuss.
How does billing work?
You will be billed immediately for your first shipment, thereafter you’ll be billed the same amount approximately every 90 days. Before the subsequent billings, I’ll email you in advance to ensure we have the correct shipping address on file and to give you a chance to pause the shipment or make any adjustments.
How does shipping work?
By default shipping is ground. You can opt to upgrade to 3-day shipping but that is usually cost prohibitive with a product like wine and doubles the shipping charges. Before each shipment, you’ll be contacted to make sure there will be an adult to sign for the package. Packages must be signed for by someone over 21, so we recommend you designate a drop off location like your local FedEx store, your office, or with a neighbor if you’re concerned about being out of the house on the day of delivery.
Can I pause or cancel my subscription?
We get it. These things happen. If you need to pause or cancel your subscription, just update your customer account. There won’t be any penalty. Your customer account can be accessed via the customer portal by clicking the "Manage subscription" link in the email I'll send you "Your recurring order purchase confirmation from WineSkipping". Alternatively you can log into your account from the wineskipping.com site or email me.
What states do you ship to and what are the costs?
Shipping is flat rate for Ground shipping based on weight. A 3-day shipping option is available at approximately twice the price. If you live in the CA Bay Area I’m happy to offer a local pickup or delivery option. Use code “LOCALPICKUP” or "LOCALDELIVERY" for discounted shipping. Pickup will be in San Mateo, CA.
