Napa Wineries
Under Construction! Short list below of my favorite Napa wineries. This page is under construction and not yet complete.
Barnett Family Vineyards
- Production:
- Avg bottle price: $50, Tasting fee $80pp
- Varietals: Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay
- Winemaking style: Bright fruit, not jammy, very complex
- What makes them special: Small family run, very warm people. The estate is on Spring Mountain with amazing views of the valley and of the highly terraced vineyards that you won’t see elsewhere. The location is truly stunning and worth a visit!
- My impressions: This is probably my favorite Napa winery for their wines and their location. The tasting fees are a bit pricy at $80pp though. You get to taste some incredible wines with a knowledgeable friendly educator in a stunning location. They don’t pack people in.
- Favorite wine: My favorite wine is the Tina Marie Pinot Noir for intensely bright red fruit and complexity. But I’ve also grabbed bottles of the Merlot and Cab when I’ve been there. I could pass on the Chardonnay, it’s nice but a highly oaked and malo chardonnay typical of the area that you can get at other wineries.
Volker-Eisele Family Estate
- Production: ?
- Avg bottle price: $60
- Varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, red blends
- Winemaking style: Bright fruit with full body and rich earthiness.
- What makes them special: Small family run and premium wines. Again, I really love the people here and am blown away by the wines!
- My impressions: I’m a big fan of this winery, they are not a big producer and didn’t come into this with a ton of money. They are just a family operation but somehow managing premium wines and grapes. Last I checked the tasting room was closed due to covid as it is also on their residence.
- Favorite wine: Las Flores Cabernet Sauvignon all day!
Hall “The Art of Cabernet”
- Production: higher volume than the others but ??
- Avg bottle price: $80
- Varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon and a token Sauvignon Blanc
- Winemaking style: Big rich, full bodied, complex cabs
- What makes them special: The cabs
- My impressions: Nice outdoor space with lots of art for eye candy. Love the cabs and the location, well worth a visit.
- Favorite wine: Jack’s Masterpiece Cabernet Sauvignon but the 1873 is great too!
ONDA (DANA Estates)
- Production:
- Avg bottle price: $100 for VASO, $200 for ONDA, $400 for DANA
- Varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon
- Winemaking style: Earthy meaty med-bodied cabs.
- What makes them special: First (and only?) Korean-owned and operated winery outside of Korea.
